Abstract or Additional Information

The birthday problem is a classic brain teaser that statistics professors love to ask their students: how many people do you need in a room for there to be a 50% chance that 2 share a birthday? The startling answer gives rise to more questions: What if 3 people share a birthday? What if there are groups of people and the people in each group have the same birthday? I will explore these extensions to the birthday problem and more as well as show some popular approximations. (If enough people attend, perhaps we can put the birthday problem into action and test it!)
