Abstract or Additional Information

The two teams from the Spring Math 1103 BIG Problems class will present their work (with each of the talks being 15+epsilon mintues).

  1.  Team Compunetix will show how their analytical supported sales for this Monroeville-based tech company.  This team created an easy-to-use calculator to determine a potential customer's return on investment and was able to do this with a general idea of the situtation but no data (because there isn't any).  This later part is what made the problem interesting mathematically and the team will present their use of a Fourier series in their model.
  2. Team HMS was tasked with analyzing large data sets for Health Management Systems.  HMS tracks hospitals for state and local governements and has the important job of identifying the outbreak of a syndrome but often has bad data sets to work with.  Team HMS will present their work identifying and fixing bad data for the large datas they were given.
