Long and Short Waves in Shallow Water

In this talk, we will discuss both long and short wave models arising in shallow water applications. We will discuss the coupling between models, and focus specifically on two short wave models, one which is appropriate for deeper water, and models which are primarily used in the near-shore. Numerical approximation to these models using discontinuous Galerkin methods will be described, and applications to hurricane storm surge will be presented.
