Fixed Points and Banach Spaces Mini-Conference

9:30 am -  Welcome - Coffee, bagels

11:00 am -12:00 pm - Professor Maria A. Japon Pineda, University of Sevilla,

Title: "The tau-fixed point property for left reversible semigroups."
Abstract

12:30 pm - 1:20 pm - Professor Joe Diestel, Kent State University,

Title: "Unconditionally converging series in Banach spaces."
Abstract: We will discuss problem 122 in the Scottish Book, due to Mazur and Orlicz. It asks if in every infinite-dimensional Banach space there exists an unconditionally convergent series that's not absolutely convergent? Yes: the Dvoretzky-Rogers theorem is a highlight; but there's more, much more to the solution.
