In this talk I aim to introduce the notion of a guessing model (due to Viale and Weiss), and discuss the effect of its existence on combinatorics at uncountable cardinals. The set-theoretical technicality will be kept minimum.  To have an idea about the main concept, a guessing model is an elementary submodel resembling some initial segment of the universe of sets.
