We are pleased to announce that the Pitt Chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics has received the 2026 AWM Student Chapter Award for Fundraising and/or Sustainability!

According to the AWM, The AWM Student Chapter at the University of Pittsburgh is recognized for their innovative and impactful ways for fundraising. The chapter actively promoted and secured funding for the outreach initiative “Girls Summer Math Camp”
by engaging with the broader university community and leadership at the Pitt Community Engagement Event. Through strategic outreach and advocacy at the large-scale university events, chapter representatives increased the visibility of the program and successfully obtained financial support through donations. They also secured support from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh. They demonstrated that actively sharing and promoting impactful work can enhance visibility and attract funding support, while also serving as a strong example of innovative and strategic fundraising.
