Abstract or Additional Information

Professor Trick is responsible for scheduling Major League Baseball as well as its umpires and most NCAA Division 1 athletic conferences.  As his undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Mathematics, Combinatorics and Optimization, and Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, he will discuss the mathematics of scheduling team sports.  Though this is a nontrivial problem involving Graph Theory and Operations Research, the talk will be very accessible.
