Conformal mappings in higher dimensions: the Liouville theorem (cont'd) February 13, 2018 - 1:00pm - 2:00pm Analysis, Geometry & Topology

Speaker Information

This is a continuation of last week's talk on the Liouville theorem.  The abstract is below.

In dimension n=2, orientation preserving conformal mappings are
exactly holomorphic functions with non-zero derivative. The situation
is drastically different in higher dimensions. In this talk I will
prove the celebrated theorem of Liouville according to which the only
conformal mappings in higher dimensions are the Mobius
transformations.
