Abstract or Additional Information

In this talk I will discuss a model for describing the bending behaviour of springy wires based on a regularization ansatz. The aim is to simulate certain global minimizers of the bending energy within knot classes.

Apart from some theoretical results on the shapes of these objects, I will focus on a numerical scheme investigated in collaboration with Sören Bartels and present several experiments.
