The Department of Mathematics provides support for undergraduates in the Math Assistance Center and the Calculus/Engineering Computer Lab. These are open to all undergraduate students at the University of Pittsburgh enrolled in mathematics courses. Mentoring opportunities are also available.
The department sponsors a yearly spirited Integration Bee, including a high school edition.
The Library is located in the fourth floor of Thackeray Hall. It contains recent issues of research journals and a large collection of books in the mathematical sciences.
The department's participation in the Institute for Mathematics and Its Application and the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition provides graduate students with access to conferences and workshops. The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center provides first-rate scientific computing support.
